Landscapes

Kazakhstan boasts a stunning variety of natural landscapes and ecosystems, ranging from deserts and semi-deserts to steppes, forests, and mountains that are spotted and shaped by lakes, rivers, and wetlands. Coupled with diverse climatic conditions, these varied landforms support an exceptional array of wildlife, bird, and plant species.

To preserve its unique landscapes and rich biodiversity, the government of Kazakhstan has established a network of protected natural areas—national parks, nature reserves and refuges, natural monuments and other conservation spaces. These areas are also crucial for safeguarding the country's fragile ecosystems and rare and endangered wildlife as well as providing opportunities for recreation.
